290SynopsisThe group were each sent an invitation to attend the Lord Amber - located in a small village/hamlet to the north west, ofthe Eldeen reaches.
upon arrival it was plainly obvious there were problems here. No crops in the fields, even root crops. People looking malnourished And the nearby river now a mere stream flowing with some greenish brown water.
The lord was amiable enough, the event he had on was not for us it seemed, rather he wanted us, based on our reputations (worrying) to investigate. Others had gone before us and none had returned. We agreed, well some of the group did, perhaps all too quickly to go an investigate. Steel was held back - seems the lord lost a trinket to a thieving cousin who was heading in the same general direction.
Encounter 1:on the road we spotted an overturned wagon and some bandits. Also, Khaylan heard some screaming in the distance. We attacked the bandits and were almost suprised by further ambushes. Seems they were not very good at their jobs. We won. (Khaylan took a serious beating though)
Encounter 2:Khaylan and the ranger explored across the river after finding a trail. stumbling across a small overhang/cave thing. AS we approach Khaylan was attacked from behind. We fought and Khaylan intimidated the enemy into surrender (dagger to throat of pinned man usually does it, especially when an attractive woman is straddling you). Inside the overhang we found the remains of the halfling, whom the ranger cut open after the corpse detected magic. The halfling had eaten the eye.
