Weeks: 8/4/09, 15/04/09, 22/04/09
Synopsis
The group were tasked by a house Orien representative to remove a bandit threat from the eastern trade road. These bandits had been regularly taking down carvans and stopping the free flow of trade.
Week 1:
The party camped for the night and was assaulted by scorpions and several bandits. The battle was won and the group settled for the night. (Incedently this leveled the group to 3rd). The scorpions proved somewhat challenging with their grab and sting abilities.
After the nigths rest the group continued to the bandits whereabouts, following trails that led them to a cave in a hill side. At the entrance another battle ensued seeing Kahylan seriously wounded in the fight.
Week 2:
Going into the caverns the group fought through several chambers slowly making their way into the complex. Unfortunately during one such battle (the last of the evening) Kahylan suffered a major wound and died.
Week 3:
New allies and old friends returned to the group swelling its numbers. The group finally destroyed the clan by killing the leader in the deepest chamber of the caverns. The group returned back to the village and sent seebor to the nearest House Orien outpost to claim the rewards for the party.
Zed's thoughts:
An interesting series of challenges laid out by John D for the group. Strikers are fragile. Especially Rogue strikers. When I used the rogue well, in combination with the group defenders, looking for the combat advantage then kahylan did well. Get caught on your own though and your squishier than a bug. As i found out to my disadvantage.

14 - 16th Rhaan: The crystal tear
Week 5: 18/3/09, Week 6: 25/3/09, Week 7: 1/4/09
Exp: 200,
Synopsis
Week1:
A stranger mounted on a horse entered into Amber amidst a strange mist. The mist seemed, on investigation, was sniffing around looking for something. The stranger told the group that a valuable artifact had been stolen from a temple in the mountains known as the Temple of the Crystal Tear - a temple dedicated to the worship of Dol Dorn that held at bay a number of Dangerous Vampire lords. The tear was a khyber dragon shard which was the capstone for the magics preventing the lords running amok. the stranger stated that the thieves were traced to the village and so the village should return the item. He would return to the temple to stem the tide of evil that was coming as the magics weakened.
The group nosed around and eventually ended up at the mill about a 1/4 mile from Amber. There they faced a number of zombies and a strange Abberant humanoid. After a tough fight the humanoid changed to that of a normal man, with a dark tattoo emblazoned on his head. It seemed to be an upside down, reversed copy of the abberant dragonmark. The millers daughter, a prisoner in the mill, told the group that the change happened when the man touched the shard, it seemed to move and embedd itself in his head.
Week 2:
The group headed up the mountain, past the now full lake, and to the plateau where the temple sat. Entering the graveyard they were attached by a number of undead from crawling hands to deathlock wights. The group fought through the mess and entered the Temple.
Inside they spotted the Priest who had visited the village. however this time it was clear he was not quite the same, and another battle ensued with the dead priest and his cohorts. The battle raged through the temple. the group fought well against difficult odds to win. What followed was a consecration of the altar and a discovery that the catacombs where accessed under the altar.

10 Rhaan: Amber coloured Water
Week 4: 11/3/09
Experience:
Synopsis
The group were right in the thick of battle with spiders.
Encounter 1:
The battle with spiders was a challenging one. The spiders seemed to be able to leap large distances almost in the blink of an eye and showed rudimentary intelligence, or maybe they just targeted those that hurt them the most. The battle was hampered by the fonts throughout the chamber but the group prevailed without serious loss of health and morale.
Moving onwards the group discovered that the enemy had been traveling down the far side of the tomb and would likely meet them at the large chamber of pillars. These pillars, when approached seemed to light up and generated magical vortexes that pushed, pulled, burnt, slowed, froze and electrocuted anyone passing through them without taking care.
Encounter 2
After a false start the battle was commenced. Several of the enemy group had already managed to shut off a number of the pillars leaving it safe to travel part of the way across the chamber. A necromancer orchestrated the enemies movements and that was Khaylan's priority. Teleporting and dashing across the chamber with little damage she maneuvered herself into a position where she dispatched the necromancer fairly easily whilst the rest of the group mopped up the stragglers and disarmed the remaining pillars.
once the battle was over the group discovered the tomb of the lost emperor and decided to leave well alone. Through some cursors examination of the objects and items around the tomb it was clear that a lich was trapped inside. So taking some scrolls and gold they left alone.
back on the surface the group discovered a damn that had been built by the necromancer and removed it, flooding the area again including the tomb as the passageway down was left open.
Returning to Lord Amber the group were successful in their mission and chose to rest in the small villager aptly named Amber

10 Rhaan: Amber coloured water
Week2: 4/3/09
EXP rewarded:
Synopsis
Entering into the Obelisk we were faced with a number of challenges each designed to test the groups mental and physical capabilities. As we entered each of the tests they opened a way to another part of the dungeon or granted us an orb of some kind.
Encounter 1:
Was a number of water bowls numbered 1 - 6 with a similar number on the other side numbered 2 - 7 and a dragonlike object. The aim was to drink from two bowls that would be less than the total of the bowl the dragon would drink from (7). Khaylan was seriously poisoned before Serenity drank in the right combination.
Encounter 2:
Statues, pedastals and tombs. These were the statues of lost sons of the emperor. To progress you had to determine which brother was which, which tomb they were buried in and which sword they held. Again Khaylan the ever inquisitive took the brunt of the pain in solving the riddle.
Encounter 3.
Khaylan stayed out of this one, it was a tiled floor that lit up as you moved across the tiles. The group assumed a pattern, however upon completion it was determined that the actions of the person moving across the floor set the pattern for the room. An orb was retrieved from this room.
Encounter 4
The group skipped over a metal door that was likely flooded beyond and into a room with a number of fonts. Each had a differing liquid. the pink liquid seemed to be rather tasty healing wounds and boosting morale of khaylan. However spiders attacked the group and this was where the session ended.

Khaylan
My Name is Khaylan, I used to be a spy until the war ended. Well, ended for me at least. A month before the treaty was signed I was caught by the Thrane Royal Guard leaving me little choice but to run. i ran home. Well as close to home as i can. It seems that joining the war has left me with little friends amongst my people at the Unseen Court. So i've spent the last eight years wandering around the Eldeen Reaches looking for work, and a place to call home. So far i've found little of the first and definately not the second.
10 Raan - Amber coloured water
Week2: 25/2/09
EXP rewarded: 260
Synopsis
After a nights rest the group headed up river to where the headwaters started - A large lake, swamp area. It was clearly obvious that the water had been receeding for several days at least judging by the dry cracked mud leading to wetter mud near the waters edge. out in the dim light there were a number of islands, one of which had a faint reddish glow emanating from it.
The group headed over to a small boat and given it could'nt take everyone split up to cross to the large island with the glow.
Encounter 1
Kahylan, Serenity and Reidran headed across the swamp in the boat. A rope was tied to the rear end to allow easy retrieval so others could follow. Mid way across, which was slow going, undead creatures where spotted resulting in a battle which saw several of the group getting wet, diseased and the boat destroyed. However the foes fell easy enough when hit however they were accustomed to fighting in water.
Once over, searching the corpses, a clasp was found bearing the initials of a famous adventuring / mercenary group. possibly one or the other of the two groups that had been approached by Lord Amber in the past.
Encounter 2
With the boat gone the group took to a number of small island stepping stones to cross. Ironically this would have been the easiest way across thanks to the rope fastened between each island. Obviously someone had used this route before, at least once. Part way across the group straggled between the mainland and the various islands and undead attacked again. The battle was easier this time and the group fought to gain the island.
Encounter 3
The obolesk was not the source of the red glow (it glowed green from the mosses on it) rather the fire that had been left to burn low was the source of the reddy glow. Investigating the obelisk seemed to point it to be the marker of the tomb of a lost emperor (probably predating the 5 nations) The group spent several hours trying to work out how to open the damned thing, eventually culminating in Kahylan cutting her hand and laying it on the obelisk and Valend then finding some point or other which he pushed causing it to open and reveal steps down
